Finding safety for families: Advocating for survivors of intimate partner violence

Partner David S. Sager, Senior Paralegal Ratasha Morse, and Case Assistant Anoushka Thakur (all Short Hills) were presented the Justice Seymour Simon Award for their work helping survivors of domestic violence obtain orders of protection.

In one case, the team represented a mother seeking protection from her child’s father following a history of abuse and harassment. After a multi-day trial, the court granted the client a protective order.

In another matter, the team represented a client seeking a final restraining order against her long-term partner after multiple incidents of domestic violence. The judge ultimately granted the client an order of protection. Criminal proceedings are ongoing.
