About

Jen is an experienced energy lawyer, specialising in revenue contracts and offtake structures. She is an established and highly regarded advisor within the corporate PPA market, having acted on numerous PPAs across Europe, SE Asia and the US, and has expanded her practice into optimisation and tolling contracts for battery storage solutions to reflect the market shift towards co-located assets and hybrid projects as well as standalone storage.

Jen advises a range of clients including generators, offtakers, lenders and optimisers in relation to these arrangements.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advised DLA Piper UK LLP on its entry into its own virtually settled corporate PPA with NextEnergy Group – the first and only PPA entered into by a law firm as offtaker globally. The PPA relates to the energy generated from a new-build solar farm in the UK. The project will generate 13 MW of additional renewable energy that will be supplied directly to the UK’s national grid and thereby to the interconnected power network supplying DLA’s 15 European and UK offices that are taking part in the project. The power generated by the solar farm will be at least equal to, but likely in excess of, the power used by these offices.
  • Advised a cohort of four buyers in relation to their respective entries into four VPPAs with Catania Solartrack, a new 52 MW solar project in Catania, Sicily, developed by Aquila Clean Energy EMEA, as part of an aggregated procurement to bring together offtakers with smaller consumption loads.
  • Advised City of London on what was, at the time, the UK’s largest public sector tender to date, resulting in the entry by CoL into a 15‑year sleeved PPA with Voltalia to procure electricity for the Square Mile in London from a 49 MW solar farm in Dorset.
  • Advised Prime Capital AG on a number of their physically and virtually settled PPA arrangements across the Nordics and Spain, opposite offtakers including Google, Microsoft, IFF and McCain.
  • Advising data centre developer Global Switch on their procurement of renewable energy across Europe, including their entry into an eight‑year PPA with German renewable energy developer RWE in relation to a 57.4 MW wind farm in the UK.
  • Advising BKW Energie AG in relation to its entry into two 10‑year optimisation and commercialisation agreements with Acacia covering two 100 MW batteries in France, two of the largest contracts of their kind in France.
