Fanny Combourieu elected to DLA Piper International Board

Fanny Combourieu, head of the Tax practice in Paris, has been elected to the DLA Piper International Board as a representative of the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. Her term of office begins on 1 January 2023.

The DLA Piper International Board has strategic oversight of the organisation’s development and supports the organisation’s long-term success and sustainability. It makes decisions taking into account the interests of employees, clients and the wider communities.

Tax Lawyer for over 20 years Fanny has joined DLA Piper’s Paris office with her team in 2018. All over these years, she has developed a solid expertise in tax, particularly in structuring private equity, infrastructure and real estate transactions for clients of the asset management industry. Her outstanding achievements and experience were recognized notably for the second year in a row in The Legal 500 EMEA, in which she was awarded as Leading Individual in the field of Private equity tax.

Fanny’s appointment aligns with the firm’s international Diversity and Inclusion policy. Fanny becomes the First French woman to join the board, and with her joining, 50% of the elected members will be women. But Fanny’s election goes beyond gender diversity. As the first elected tax partner, she also brings diversity in terms of practice, expertise and background.

Fanny Combourieu notes: I am thrilled to represent my partners at the Board and to have the opportunity to contribute further to the development of our firm and our great international platform. My skills, my international mindset, my energy and determination will help me to take up this new challenge and make sure we make the best decisions in the interest of our people, clients and partners in the complex economic and political environment we are in.

Commenting on the appointment, Jon Hayes, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper and Senior Partner of DLA Piper International, said: “I am delighted that Fanny will be joining our Board, bringing with her a wealth of experience leading on international tax matters and from many international locations throughout her career. Working in this area she is accustomed to challenging the status quo which, when applied internally, will add further momentum to the innovative drive that DLA Piper has always been known for. Fanny is also a great advocate for diversity and inclusion, an area that we all feel passionately about and agree is key to the future success of the firm. We look forward to her contribution to the Board.”
