Kathleen Ruhland named to The Deal’s list of Top Women in Dealmaking
DLA Piper is pleased to announce Kathleen Ruhland, global co-chair of the firm’s Corporate practice, has been named to The Deal’s 2023 list of the Top Women in Dealmaking. The annual list recognizes attorneys who have displayed excellence in their respective legal fields, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructuring and activist investing.
Last year, Ruhland was part of the DLA Piper deal team that advised Philip Morris International Inc. on its US$16 billion cash offer acquisition of Swedish Match AB. In addition, she serves as one of the lead M&A lawyers for Deere & Company, leading several notable transactions for the company in the last year. Ruhland has also led global M&A transactions for many Fortune 500 clients including Ecolab Inc., Tyson Foods and Medtronic.
In her practice, Ruhland advises clients on complex cross-border transactions – including global M&A, restructuring and joint ventures – in established and emerging markets throughout the world. She advises leading corporations across a variety of sectors, with a particular emphasis on the consumer goods, food and beverage, agricultural and industrial sectors. She holds a number of leadership positions at DLA Piper. In addition to her role as global co-chair of the Corporate practice, she is a member of DLA Piper’s Executive and Management Committees and is the former chair of the firm’s Leadership Alliance for Women (LAW).
