About
Brendon is a Tax partner with more than 25 years experience advising on a broad range of tax issues in infrastructure, property and M&A. Brendon advises governments, funds (local and foreign) and Australian companies on managing tax issues in the context of transactions. He works on significant, large-scale and complex matters for fund managers, superannuation funds, non-resident investors and other capital providers. Brendon is sought after by clients for providing holistic and commercial advice with an end-to-end solution.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising an independent, global infrastructure manager on the acquisition of large-scale renewable projects including Stockyard Hill (Wind), Macarthur (wind), Granville Harbour (wind), Ross River (Solar), Waterloo (wind), Snowtown (wind) and Limestone Coast North Battery Energy Storage System.*
  • A global infrastructure manager and a leading Australian renewable energy company on the acquisition of various renewable projects including the Elliot Green projects, BayWa, Wild Cattle Hill Wind Farm and advised in relation to the refinancing of its wholly owned Australian renewable assets portfolio and various development opportunities.*
  • Advising multiple financial institutions on the restructure and refinance of a renewables portfolio to achieve preferred financing outcomes.*
  • A leading Australasian fully integrated real asset group on the acquisition of a data centre development opportunity.*
  • An Australian investment manager on the establishment of Australia's first natural capital fund.*
  • Advising AirTrunk and its founder, Robin Khuda on its restructure and sell down. With a AUD24bn enterprise value, differing needs of foreign investors and significant Australian taxation and Foreign Investment Review Board oversight, tax structure needed to be robust, commercial, agile and able to be executed upon.*
  • Advising Australia's largest super fund on the taxation implications of acquiring a 50% stake of Ausgrid from the NSW State Government.*
  • Advising a leading Australian provider of high voltage electricity transmission network services on structuring options to preserve tax status for the Queensland Future Fund.*
  • Advising one of the world's leading investors, developers and managers of public-private partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects on various PPP transactions, accommodating the needs of different financial investors within bid structures consistent with State objectives (including Footscray Hospital, Western Sydney Airport Rail, Casey Hospital, various social and affordable housing projects and NorthWest Rapid Transit).*
  • Advising a global green energy company on tax aspects of proposed Australian hydrogen developments.*
