Ana O'Hara Condes is a commercial litigator whose practice spans a diverse range of industries, including work for leading companies in technology, insurance and reinsurance, and retail.

Ana has extensive experience representing public and private companies in major insurance coverage disputes, privacy and consumer fraud class action litigations, and breach of contract actions in state and federal courts across the country. She also litigates complex business disputes on both the plaintiff and defense side and has participated in high-value arbitrations and mediations. With experience across trial, motion practice, and discovery, Ana meaningfully contributes to a variety of complex litigation teams and is committed to delivering excellent results for clients and supporting teams through every stage of a case.

Ana is deeply invested in her pro bono practice, which focuses on prisoners' rights cases and criminal appellate work.

EXPERIENCE

  • First chaired a jury trial in Lake County, IL, winning a verdict in favor of the client in a condominium association dispute
  • Took and defended depositions in an insurance case worth over US$300 million
  • Argued a significant discovery motion in court on behalf of a large joint defense group of insurers
  • Oversaw two major document review projects, leading teams of attorneys in the review, redaction, and production of hundreds of thousands of documents
  • Lead drafter of a motion to dismiss in an employment case which led to the complete dismissal of the case
  • Lead drafter of a motion to dismiss and summary judgment motion in a multimillion-dollar insurance case, resulting in significant victories for the clients
  • Lead drafter of an appellate brief addressing an issue of first impression in Illinois courts regarding the First Amendment implications of sealed proceedings for insurance insolvency, leading to a complete win for the client
  • Assisted in research and drafting on numerous motions for and in opposition to summary judgment, discovery orders, and preliminary injunctive relief
  • Took a lead role in two settlement conferences in prisoner's rights pro bono cases, each one resulting in a successful settlement and a significant payout to the pro bono client
  • Took and defended numerous depositions, including the deposition of a medical expert, in pro bono cases
