Yunus Maka has been a member of the Corporate group at DLA Piper for over 25 years becoming a partner in January 2008. Yunus undertakes a wide variety of corporate transactions for and provides corporate support to a variety of local and international clients.

Yunus has led DLA Piper legal teams on numerous domestic and multi-jurisdictional cross-border transactions, including sales and acquisitions of publicly listed and private companies (including private equity-backed investments), group reorganisations and joint ventures. As a consequence, Yunus is regularly seen as a first 'port of call' for many of his clients. The general counsel of a client recently described Yunus as, "so good that the other side will want him as their lawyer".

Yunus has also given seminars both internally and externally on corporate transactions, corporate governance, director duties and other similar housekeeping matters.

EXPERIENCE

  • Acting for sellers on the buyout of Verna Group International Limited by HIG Capital.
  • Advising SDL plc on a capital raise and debt finance in connection with (and advising on) the acquisition of the language translation services business of Donnelley Financial Services, Inc., involving 14 jurisdictions.
  • Advising PE and management on the sale of their interests in Com Laude and Biophorum Operations Group Limited on secondary buyouts.
  • Regularly advising TA Associates backed tech-enabled platforms, such as insightsoftware Group, Netwrix Corporation, Rocscience, Lumivero and others on ongoing legal matters, including the acquisitions of bolt-on technology driven businesses.
  • Advising Vespa Capital LLP on investments in various businesses, including Rocksteady Music, Feefo Holdings, SelectScience, Bluecrest Health Screening and Chase Search & Selection.
  • Advising Quaker Chemical Corporation on all international legal work.
  • Advising Hoist Finance AB (publ.) on UK legal matters.
  • Advising a Middle Eastern high net worth client on all global legal matters including acquisitions, disposals, investments and group reorganisations.
