Allen Xu is DLA Piper's Head of Trademark, Copyright and Media in Beijing. He advises multinational corporations and local Chinese businesses on the full spectrum of IP matters, both contentious and non-contentious, bringing deep knowledge of one of the world's most complex and rapidly evolving IP jurisdictions.
With extensive experience gained across leading international law firms, Allen provides practical, commercially grounded advice on trademark protection, copyright, design patents, and domain name disputes. He represents clients before China's administrative IP authorities and its courts, navigating the procedural and strategic nuances that determine outcomes in high-stakes IP proceedings.
Allen also has rich experience in global trademark portfolio management and advising on complex cross-border IP prosecution and enforcement, with a particular focus in Asia, Europe, and Americas.
Allen's transactional IP practice encompasses commercial IP issues arising in business transactions across China, including drafting, negotiating IP acquisition, and licensing agreements, conducting IP due diligence and asset audits of target companies, and structuring IP arrangements to support cross-border deals.
He holds bar qualifications in China.
