Beatriz is an associate in the Litigation and Regulatory practice group at DLA Piper Spain, based in the Madrid office.

She practises in the areas of civil and commercial litigation and arbitration, regularly advising domestic and international clients on the management and resolution of complex disputes, at both the pre-litigation stage and in court and arbitration proceedings.

She has solid experience in defining, developing and executing procedural and defence strategies, acting in proceedings before civil and commercial courts and tribunals, as well as before various arbitral tribunals, in matters of high technical and economic complexity.

Beatriz regularly handles international litigation and arbitration cases with a significant cross-border element, which require the coordinated analysis of different legal systems, complex contractual documentation and procedural strategies tailored to international contexts.

In the course of her professional practice, Beatriz has regularly handled corporate disputes, claims for contractual and non-contractual liability, litigation arising from commercial and financial transactions, disputes relating to building and construction, as well as disputes in the field of insurance and reinsurance law, areas in which she has particularly significant experience.

She regularly advises business groups, insurance and reinsurance companies, financial institutions and multinational companies, playing a direct role in the legal and procedural analysis of cases, risk assessment, the definition of defence strategies and the comprehensive management of proceedings, taking an active role in all stages of the process.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising an international bank in proceedings arising from the breach of put option contracts, including the claim for the monetary equivalent of shareholdings and associated damages.
  • Advising an international company in the aeronautical sector on litigation relating to airport concession tender procedures, including the challenge of tender specifications, interim measures and claims for alleged irregularities in the award of contracts.
  • Advising an international bank in civil liability proceedings arising from fraudulent transfers, focusing on the assessment of due diligence, fraud prevention protocols and issues of international jurisdiction.
  • Advising a financial institution on proceedings relating to the fulfilment of its obligations as a securitised portfolio administrator, including high-value claims arising from the removal of certain clauses and the calculation of damages.
  • Advising and representing a leading telecommunications company in disputes relating to the performance of maintenance and service provision contracts.
  • Advising an aeronautical company in proceedings concerning unfair competition, including defending against allegations of allegedly irregular commercial practices in the field of airport services.
  • Advising an international investment services firm in proceedings concerning the marketing of financial instruments, focusing on verifying compliance with regulatory obligations under Spanish and European legislation.
  • Representing a leading multinational group in the healthcare and consumer goods sector in civil proceedings relating to the performance of a contract for the supply of healthcare products and the agency agreement for their subsequent distribution.
  • Advising and defending an international banking institution in relation to its exposure to potential legal claims from clients in Spain, arising from significant changes in Supreme Court case law on contractual matters.
