Giulia Isabella Valenzi is a Senior Lawyer in the Tax department and is based in the Rome office.
She advises both Italian and international clients on tax law and tax planning, with a particular focus on M&A transactions in the energy sector. She provides assistance on the tax aspects of the acquisition and disposal of assets in the wind, solar, storage, hydroelectric, and cogeneration sectors, as well as advising international investors on the tax structuring of transactions involving renewable energy project pipelines.
Giulia also specializes in the implementation of tax risk management and monitoring systems, including for the purpose of joining the Italian Cooperative Compliance program. She provides assistance in managing and analyzing DAC 6 obligations, as well as drafting and/or updating organizational models pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 231/2001, with a particular focus on tax-related offenses.
Moreover, Giulia assists leading corporations in analyzing the tax implications of their employee incentive schemes, including equity plans, carried interest structures, stock options, and phantom stock options.
She graduated Cum Laude in Law from Sapienza University of Rome and in Economics and Management from Tor Vergata University of Rome. She also earned a Second-Level Master’s Degree in Tax Law, Accounting, and Fiscal Planning from Luiss Business School - Rome. Before joining DLA Piper, she collaborated with top-tier Italian law firms and the Avvocatura Generale dello Stato.
Giulia is the author of numerous editorial contributions for IPSOA Wolters Kluwer and Il Sole 24 ORE, as well as articles published in academic tax law journals.
