DLA Piper advises workspace productivity company Notion Labs in acquisition of calendar app company Cron

DLA Piper advised Notion Labs, an all-in-one project management and workspace software company, in its acquisition of Cron, a smart calendar company that makes scheduling easier through a calendar app with simple keyboard shortcuts.

Notion, a leading productivity startup with a $10 billion valuation, combines documents, internal wiki pages, task-management tools, and spreadsheets in one customizable software platform. The addition of Cron’s calendar capabilities will expand Notion’s software functionality, creating a more efficient experience for its users. The acquisition builds upon Notion’s successes, which include raising $275 million last year and 90% of startups on the Forbes Cloud 100 index using the app.

“We are thrilled Notion selected DLA Piper as its M&A legal advisor for its acquisition of Cron, building upon our prior engagement with Notion in connection with its 2021 acquisition of Automate.io,” said John Maselli, the DLA Piper partner who led the firm’s deal team. “As the future of work rapidly evolves, the software from Notion Labs will be critical to maximizing efficiency and productivity in an increasingly fast-paced world.”

In addition to Maselli (San Francisco), the DLA Piper team advising Notion Labs included associates Huntington Domine and Nathalie Hoegger (both of Silicon Valley).

With more than 1,000 corporate lawyers globally, DLA Piper helps clients execute complex transactions seamlessly while supporting clients across all stages of development. The firm has been rated number one in global M&A volume for 12 consecutive years, according to Mergermarket.
