Legal DirectorManuel is Legal Director of the Real Estate department at DLA Piper’s Madrid office. He has over 12 years’ experience advising leading institutional investors, including on all types of real estate transactions.
His practice focuses on the full cycle of real estate transactions: acquisitions, disposals, portfolio restructurings, real estate joint ventures and asset financing transactions. He advises on both direct asset sales and share deals, including those with a multi-jurisdictional component.
Manuel combines in-depth technical and legal knowledge with a business-oriented strategic vision, enabling him to structure transactions that optimise returns and minimise risks for his clients.
His sector experience covers logistics and industrial assets, offices, retail, residential (build-to-rent and build-to-sell), hotels and hospitality.
EXPERIENCE
- Advising two major global investment funds on the acquisition and financing of a EUR3 bln portfolio of logistics properties in Spain, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Poland.
- Advising a global real estate investment, development and management firm on the acquisition of three logistics assets in Spain and the Netherlands.
- Advising a Swedish global investment firm on the acquisition of a logistics warehouse in the Centrovía industrial estate (Zaragoza).
- Advising a global financial services company on the purchase of two logistics warehouses in the south of Madrid.
- Advising an international private equity property development firm on the sale of a newly built 13,000 m² logistics facility in Montornés del Vallés (Barcelona).
- Advising a hotel company on the purchase of the San Fernando business park and a portfolio of office buildings in Madrid and Barcelona.
- Advised one of the largest investment firms on the sale of Grupo Planeta’s headquarters in Barcelona.
- Advising one of the world’s largest insurance groups and a leading asset management firm on the purchase of the Puerto Venecia Shopping Centre, one of Spain’s largest shopping centres.
- Advising a Spanish property company on the purchase of the Islazul Shopping Centre.
- Advising a Swiss real estate investment group on the formation of a joint venture with Thomas Cook and on the acquisition of a portfolio of hotels in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.
- Advising one of the world’s largest hospital property companies on the formation of a joint venture with one of Spain’s leading private hospital groups for the acquisition of two hospitals.
- Advising Axel Group on a sale and leaseback transaction involving a hotel in Barcelona.
- Advising one of the world’s largest investment management firms on the acquisition of Banco Sabadell’s residential development platform.
- Advised a construction company on the structuring of a joint venture with DeA Capital for the development of a build-to-rent residential project on a plot of land in the Community of Madrid, in Arganda del Rey.
