About

Renee M. Schoenberg concentrates her practice in the areas of tax-exempt and nonexempt nonprofit organizations and closely-held businesses. Representative clients include donors of significant restricted and unrestricted charitable gifts and their private foundations; corporate-sponsored private foundations; charitable, scientific and educational public charities; trade associations, social welfare organizations and other tax-exempt organizations; and numerous clients through DLA Piper's pro bono program, ranging from small local charities to very large national or internationally-active organizations and an agency of the United Nations.

She received the American Bar Association's Pro Bono Publico Award in 2016 in recognition of her dedication to and success in providing legal services to the poor and disadvantaged by obtaining recognition of federal tax-exempt charity status for an innovative new "low bono" law firm in the District of Columbia that seeks to address the "access to justice gap" by providing affordable legal representation in civil matters.
