Global M&A – How to Get to the Finish Line in 2023

On February 22, we co-hosted a Global M&A Event with Israeli law firm Herzog and ACC Israel. We were joined by our DLA colleagues Christopher Giordano (Chair, NY Corporate Group and Chair, US M&A Group, New York), Will Seivewright (Partner, Head of Corporate – Middle East, Dubai), Nils Krause (Head of Corporate/M&A, Hamburg), Alexander (Sasha) Kolmakov (Corporate Partner, London) and Richard Hughes (Corporate Partner, Dubai).

Over 100 people attended the event, which focused on global M&A trends, the state of M&A, M&A perspectives from around the world, and deal financing during the current down market. Hanan Haviv (Partner, Head of the Hi-Tech Department at Herzog) and Jeremy Lustman (Partner and Head of the Israel Practice at DLA Piper) kicked off the day with welcoming remarks. Len Rosen (CEO – Israel and Senior Managing Director at Evercore) gave an introduction to Global M&A trends, followed by a panel discussion on the state of M&A moderated by Christopher Giordano. Panelists included Joshua Begner (Head of Private Equity and M&A Israel, WTW), Rubi Suliman (Partner, Advisory and Hi-Tech Leader, PwC Israel), Yifat Oron (Senior Managing Director, Blackstone), Len Rosen, Talia Rafaeli (General Partner, Kompas VC) and Hanan Haviv. They discussed their views on potential changes in the market over the next year, public and private transactions and obstacles they see in the market.

After a coffee and networking break, Ran Hai (Partner, Co-head of the Corporate & Securities Department, Herzog) moderated a panel discussion on M&A perspectives from around the world. Panelists included Will Seivewright, Nils Krause, Alexander (Sasha) Kolmakov, Christopher Giordano and Yuval Meidar (Partner, Hi Tech, Herzog). The panelists spoke about their respective countries’ markets and current trends, as well as geographical obstacles in M&A.

Closing remarks on the state of the financing market and down-market trends were made by Abe Finkelstein (General Partner, Vintage Investment Partners).
