DLA Piper advises HALLMANN HOLDING on the acquisition of a majority stake in the Neu-Ulm retail park

DLA Piper has advised HALLMANN HOLDING held by Austrian investor Klemens Hallmann on the acquisition of a majority stake in the retail park an der Borsigstrasse in Neu-Ulm. With this transaction, HALLMANN HOLDING further expands its portfolio in the retail segment. With a gross floor area of around 110,000 square meters and a parking garage of 36,000 square meters, the Neu-Ulm retail park is the largest one in Germany under the sole ownership of a single company, and also one of the largest in Europe. The parties have agreed not to disclose the sale price.

The modern building combines the characteristics of a retail park with those of a classic shopping center: the large-scale stores are not only accessible from the outside, but are also connected by an interior mall. Currently, around 30 tenants from various sectors are represented in the complex.

The immediate proximity to the university city of Ulm as well as to the metropolis of Munich, some 150 km away, make the retail park an important hub for the region. Due to its good location and optimum transport links by bus, rail and freeway, the retail park can also be reached from Austria in around one hour.

HALLMANN HOLDING, headquartered in Austria, has been active in the development and adjustment of high-quality real estate projects in Austria, Europe and worldwide as well as an investor for more than 25 years. One of the focuses is the acquisition of high-quality real estates, apartment buildings and the revitalization of properties.

The DLA Piper team was jointly led by partners Lars Reubekeul (Real Estate) and Simon Vogel (Corporate) and also included senior associates Michael Rebholz (Corporate) and Philipp Moser (Real Estate, all Munich).

The team at HALLMANN HOLDING was led by Head of Legal Evelyn Weinberger.
