DLA Piper (Canada) LLP welcomes Partner Roderick C. Payne, Tovah Moffat and Bryce Wells ‎to the Edmonton office

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is delighted to announce that Roderick Payne has joined the firm as a Partner in the Edmonton office. ‎Rod has over 27 years of experience assisting clients on a broad range of oil and gas, construction, employment and commercial litigation matters. ‎Also joining the Edmonton office are associates Tovah Moffat and Bryce Wells.

Rod has acted on substantial disputes in the construction industry ranging from power plants and diamond ‎mines to general commercial sites. ‎Rod also has extensive experience advising employers and senior employees on wrongful dismissal, unfair competition, and  interference with contractual relations. ‎ He has successfully appeared in every level of court in Alberta, as well as the Federal Tax Court and Federal Court ‎of Appeal and is a member of the Northwest Territories bar, where he litigates construction disputes and ‎advises indigenous and Métis corporations and organizations. ‎

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Rod was the Firm Principal at the highly regarded Edmonton boutique firm, Hustwick Payne, during which time he built a strong reputation for his commitment to quality and integrity while ‎assisting corporate clients on complex litigation matters.‎

Tovah Moffat maintains a general practice with a focus on Business and Corporate Law. She regularly advises clients in the areas of corporate governance, corporate ‎reorganization, contract negotiations, shareholder disputes and mergers and acquisitions and‎ has represented clients before the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta.‎ Tovah received her law degree from the University of Saskatchewan.‎

Bryce Wells has a broad civil litigation practice, with an emphasis on construction law, commercial contract and lease ‎litigation, shareholder disputes and debtor-creditor matters, and regularly provides strategic advice to ‎clients in these areas.‎ He has appeared before the Provincial and Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and has participated in ‎alternative dispute resolutions. Bryce has an educational background in finance and accounting.‎‎
