DLA Piper strengthens its Finance practice with Ignacio Delpino

DLA Piper is pleased to welcome Ignacio Delpino as a partner in the firm’s Finance practice, further expanding the capabilities of its Chile office.

Delpino has more than 15 years of experience in banking and capital markets, most recently serving as a general counsel and secretary of the board at Banco Security. He focuses on structured, bilateral, and syndicated financings, domestic and cross-border capital markets, derivatives and ISDA documentation, and complex banking and financial regulatory advice. In particular, he has advised on LIBOR transition, financial portability, fintech regulation, derivatives, treasury matters, and multi-stakeholder engagements with regulators and internal and external counsel.

Deepening the firm’s cross-practice capabilities, Delpino will work with financial institutions, funds, and insurers across the world, support existing clients, and collaborate with colleagues on finance-adjacent areas such as projects and energy, corporate/ mergers and acquisitions, insurance, and disputes.

“As the impacts of globalization continue to reshape how companies invest, expand, and manage risk across borders, and as Latin America plays an increasingly critical role in that interconnected landscape, our clients are seeking counsel who understand and are deeply familiar with the evolving state of business,” said Francisco J. Cerezo, Chair of the firm’s US-Latin America practice. “Ignacio’s experience will help clients address complex financing and banking issues, including those clients that are operating across multiple borders.”

“We’re delighted to welcome Ignacio Delpino to our team in Chile. His market side perspective and deep experience in structured finance, capital markets, and banking regulation complement our existing practice and positions us to provide even greater support for clients navigating complex financial transactions in Chile and across the region.” said Matías Zegers, Managing Partner of the firm’s Chile office.

Delpino’s arrival follows DLA Piper’s recent addition of Macarena Gatica to its Chile office, where she advises on data protection, cybersecurity and technology law for clients across industries, including finance. These hires underscore the firm’s continued investment in its integrated, cross-practice capabilities and growth throughout Latin America.
