With extensive expertise in energy and environmental law, Jean-Philippe Minaud advises and litigates across all matters relating to renewable energy production, consumption, storage, and the broader energy transition.

He supports stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of renewable energy projects—whether hybrid or not—including solar, wind, biogas, and hydrogen. His practice encompasses development, financing, construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and decommissioning. He is particularly well-versed in administrative authorizations, grid connection, energy sales, and project agreements.

Jean-Philippe regularly advises private operators and financial institutions on regulatory, contractual, and bankability matters. He has also developed recognized expertise in drafting, negotiating, and finalizing power purchase agreements (electricity, biogas, hydrogen) and downstream contracts (aggregation, optimization, flexibility, and participation in market mechanisms managed by the French TSO).

He holds advanced degrees in Public Business Law and Environmental Law from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and Paris II Panthéon-Assas Universities, and has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2015.

EXPERIENCE

  • Assistance in drafting and negotiating more than 30 PPAs (pay-as-produced, baseload, pay-as-nominated, multi-buyer, multi-asset and hybrid).*
  • Assistance in drafting and negotiating several hydrogen purchase agreements between French hydrogen producers and French industrial operators.*
  • Assistance in drafting and negotiating more than 25 aggregations, flexibility and optimization agreements (as part of an upstream PPA).*
  • Advising numerous independent electricity producers on the development and financing of more than 300 photovoltaic projects and 25 wind farm projects.*
  • Assisting an energy supplier/producer with the acquisition of BESS projects from an independent developer.*
  • Assistance to a French BESS developer in connection with a long-term tender launched by the French TSO for flexibility services.*
  • Assistance to several biogas producers in connection with the implementation of energy regulations (benefits of support mechanisms, termination of feed-in contracts, power increases, etc.) and exchanges with the administration.*
  • Assistance to several major French players in the distribution and agri-food sectors in the development and implementation of dedicated long-term energy transition strategies (PPAs, individual and self-consumption projects, etc.).*
  • Assistance to a petrochemical group in the context of the permanent closure of classified installations for environmental protection (French Environmental Code) and the implementation of remediation measures.*
  • Representation of a petrochemical group in several disputes seeking the annulment of additional prescription orders in connection with the operation of classified installations for environmental protection (French Environmental Code).*
