Webinar: FIRS is here - are you compliant?

Monday, 20 April 2026 | 12:00 BST | Zoom

The Foreign Influence Registration Scheme (FIRS), introduced under the National Security Act 2023, has created a new mandatory transparency regime for organisations conducting activity in the UK at the direction of foreign powers. The scheme has been fully operational since 1 October 2025 and understanding your obligations is essential.

Join us for an interactive webinar with Home Office officials involving a detailed and practical examination of the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme – its statutory architecture, policy rationale, and compliance framework. Particular focus will be placed on the kinds of activity in scope and highlighting the broader reach of the Enhanced Tier, covering all activity being directed by the Russian and Iranian states.

You will gain a clear understanding of the registration triggers and process, practical compliance steps, and strategic risk mitigation measures, including appropriate response strategies where potential exposure is identified. The webinar will include a live Q&A session, giving you the opportunity to engage directly with both policy experts and our lawyers.

The session will be led by Paul Hardy, partner and Head of Government Affairs at DLA Piper. He will be joined by senior officials from the Home Office, who will provide additional insight on the operation, intent, and practical implementation of the scheme. Ahead of the webinar, you can read DLA Piper’s latest insight on FIRS.
