Artificial intelligence continues its relentless evolution, profoundly reshaping legal frameworks, challenging traditional principles, and creating new responsibilities.

The approval by the Italian Senate of the draft Artificial Intelligence Bill signifies a decisive step in aligning Italy’s regulatory landscape with the European AI Act.

However, persistent criticalities remain - especially regarding independence of supervisory authorities, transparency, and the delicate boundary between human and artificial decision-making in sensitive areas such as healthcare, intellectual professions, justice, and national security.

In parallel, the latest revisions in the Third Draft of the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice underscores the increasing obligations for AI providers and deployers in terms of transparency, copyright compliance, safety, and cybersecurity.
