About
Ahmed Selim advises businesses, non-profits and public agencies on matters of regulatory law, board governance, conflicts of interest, privacy legislation, investigations and whistleblower protection, professional licensing and other environmental and regulatory issues. Ahmed also maintains a commercial practice with a focus on private mergers and acquisitions and professional services firms, such as engineering, architecture, medical and dental practices. Among other regulatory matters, Ahmed advises clients on extended producer responsibility issues, including in the plastics, battery, electronics, consumer goods, lubricants, and automotive industries. 

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Ahmed worked in business banking for one of the Big Five banks in ‎Canada, and prior to that as an insurance agent for a large property and casualty insurer.

Ahmed is a native Arabic speaker and is familiar with business law issues in the Middle East. Ahmed is part of DLA Piper’s Middle East Initiative. Before joining the firm as an associate, Ahmed summered and articled with the firm.‎

  • Acted for a producer responsibility organization in appealing a regulatory decision regarding its extended producer responsibility plan in British Columbia.
  • Continually advises a number of major Alberta delegated administrative organizations and Alberta government agencies on all matters of corporate law and board governance.
