Amory Heine joins DLA Piper Chile’s Tax practice

DLA Piper announced today that Amory Heine has joined DLA Piper Chile’s Tax practice as a partner in Santiago.

Heine has more than 17 years of experience in tax matters. She advises clients, both in Chile and globally, on corporate and personal tax planning, providing guidance related to inbound and outbound matters and advising on the structuring of businesses in Chile and abroad. She also has experience in audits and litigation with the Internal Revenue Service (Servicio de Impuestos Internos), and before the Tax and Customs Courts, the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Chile.

“The incorporation of Amory Heine as a partner is excellent news for DLA Piper Chile,” said Matías Zegers, co-managing partner of DLA Piper Chile. “She will enhance our tax practice and add great value for our clients in a market where she has an extraordinary reputation. Amory has developed extensive knowledge of areas that are very important to our clients who are facing regulatory changes on a regular basis, both locally and in cross-border operations. Her multicultural experience, due to her education in various countries, also allows her to recognize key cultural differences that are highly relevant when doing business globally.”

“I am happy and honored to be part of DLA Piper,” Heine said. “Together with this great team of lawyers, we will provide top-tier service and tax advice to our domestic and international clients.”

Heine joins from Rojas y Cía., where she has been a partner since 2012. Previously, she worked as a lawyer in the tax groups of BaraonaMarré Abogados and Carey y Cía., as well as at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a master's degree in tax law from the Universidad de Chile, and has several postgraduate degrees, including a diploma in tax litigation and tax auditing from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. Heine was appointed a member of the Board of Experts of the Chilean Bar Association, in the area of tax law, for her outstanding professional career and contribution to this discipline.

With the addition of Heine, DLA Piper Chile now has nine partners and nearly 50 lawyers practicing across a broad range of areas.
