Sharon Carey is a banking and finance lawyer with over a decade of experience gained in Australia and South Africa. She specialises in project finance and has advised on complex transactions across Africa, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Sharon brings particular expertise in the mining sector, having supported numerous mining projects through complex financing structures and regulatory landscapes. Her strong understanding of business drivers and international experience enables her to support clients in delivering complex domestic and cross-border financing projects.

  • Sprott Private Resource Lending Corp on its USD130 million project finance facilities made available to Robex Resources Inc. (TSXV: RBX) to support the development of the Kiniero gold mine in the Republic of Guinea.
  • Leichhardt Industrials Group on the financing with Orion Mining Finance for the acquisition of the Lake MacLeod salt project from Rio Tinto.
  • Sprott Resources Lending Corp. and Coris Bank International SA on the project financing of circa USD265m equivalent for the construction and development of West African Resources Ltd gold projects in Burkina Faso.
  • Sprott Private Resource Lending Corp. on their USD135m mezzanine debt facility and USD15m equity investment to Metals Acquisition Corp for the acquisition of the CSA copper mine in New South Wales.
  • Pantoro Limited on the USD37.3m project financing on the financing aspects of its merger with Tulla Resources plc and subsequent project financing of the Norseman Gold Mine in Western Australia with Nebari.
  • Advising Sponsors on their USD80m advance prepayment arrangement.
  • Advising the Sponsors on their USD60m debt facility based on quasi corporate and project finance loan structure.
  • North East Link advised preferred bidder in its winning bid and project finance in respect of USD11bn infrastructure project to construct a new motorway in Victoria's eastern suburbs.*
  • Darlington Refinance in respect of the refinancing of a 333MW solar farm. *
  • Lilyvale representing the lender group on the refinance of a 100 MW solar farm. *
  • Sebastopol representing the lender group on the refinancing of a 90 MW solar farm. *
  • ACWA Power on the 300MW Sakaka IPP photovoltaic solar project. Sakaka IPP is the first ever utility scale renewable energy project under the National Renewable Energy Program of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project won “Middle East and Africa Power Deal of the Year” at the PFI Awards 2018. *
  • ENGIE on the financing of the Fadhili project which is a combined cycled gas power plant with a capacity of 1,507 MW, located in the east of Saudi Arabia, northwest of Jubail Industrial City. *
  • Al Ezzel Power Company on the USD243m new financing facility for the Al Ezzel Power Company, a key electricity supplier in Bahrain. The project won “Middle East and Africa Refinancing Deal of the Year” at the PFI Awards 2018. *
  • Roggeveld represented Building Energy on the development and financing of a 140MW wind project under round 4 pf the REIPP programme in South Africa. *
