Tristan Meagher focuses his practice on advising sports, media and entertainment-related clients on a wide variety of transactional based matters, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity investments, content licensing and distribution matters and commercial arrangements, including sponsorship agreements.

In addition to his work in the sports, media and entertainment sector, Tristan advises clients in the broader M&A and private equity markets and acts as an advisor to the firm’s clients on a wide range of general business law matters.

Tristan’s experience includes the representation of: 

  • 49ers Enterprises in connection with its acquisition of Leeds United and related equity financing
  • NBA’s Phoenix Suns and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury in connection with their sale to Mat Ishbia 
  • The lead-investor in a consortium pursuing the acquisition of the Washington Commanders
  • San Diego FC in connection with the acquisition of expansion rights from MLS
  • Investors in connection with the purchase and sale of ownership interests in various NFL, NBA, MLB and MLS franchises
  • The Tennessee Titans in connection with various commercial matters, including naming rights agreements and cornerstone sponsorship agreements 
  • Qatar Investment Authority in connection with its investment in Monumental Sports & Entertainment 
  • The lead-investor in a consortium pursuing the acquisition of the Washington Commanders
  • The E.W. Scripps Company in connection with its Scripps Sports business, including media rights deals with the WNBA, NWSL, the NHL's Las Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers
  • Ares Management Corporation in its preferred equity investment in Inter Miami CF
  • For Soccer Ventures in various corporate and commercial matters
  • Sorare SAS in connection with its agreements with the NBA, NBA Players Association, MLB and Major League Baseball Players Association
