He has worked with the full range of finance providers from banks and credit funds to the various government agencies, including Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), Export Finance Australia, NAIF and the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation.

With a legacy stretching over 30 years, he's made a mark by navigating complex transactions, especially in ground-breaking initiatives spanning back to the first European energy sector privatisations in the 1990s, and more recently on transactions such as Australia's first green hydrogen project.

  • Energy Transition: an Asian utility on the financing of its acquisition of Spark Renewables; Sosteneo on the project financing for the Koorangie BESS project in Victoria; Pacific Green on a A$77 million devex loan facility from credit funds to finance the development of its BESS platform in Australia; Engie and Mitsui on the funding for Australia's first green hydrogen project; SUSI Partners and Starling Energy on the financing from CEFC for its virtual power plant business; Grupo Cobra on the project financing for the A$5 billion Central-West Orana transmission line project in NSW; Hydrostor on a US$55 million devex loan from Export Development Canada to finance its 200 MW advanced compressed air energy storage project in NSW; SUN Energy on the project financing for its Merredin Solar Farm in WA; Ratch on the project financing of the Collinsville Solar Farm, with financing from CEFC; CEFC on the project financing of the Bannerton and Oakey 2 Solar Farm, with Foresight as sponsor.

Prior Experience

Alex was previously based in the London, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong offices of various global law firms. He moved to Sydney in 2008 to join one of Australia's leading law firms.
