DLA Piper welcomes Amy Lydon as a partner in the Intellectual Property & Technology group

DLA Piper is pleased to welcome Boston-based partner Amy Lydon to the firm’s Patent Litigation subgroup within the Intellectual Property & Technology (IPT) group.

Amy comes to DLA Piper after serving for a decade as IP litigation counsel at Medtronic, where she oversaw global patent litigation and dispute resolution across the company. In that role, Amy crafted IP defense and enforcement strategies leveraging district court litigation, International Trade Commission actions, and PTAB proceedings and created and implemented IP policies and cross-functional procedures. As a result of her work at Medtronic, Amy is experienced at managing high-stakes global patent and IP litigation matters.

Previously, Amy practiced at a boutique law firm in Hartford, Connecticut, and as an in-house IP attorney providing all aspects of litigation, counseling and IP protection advice to internal clients. Amy began her career as a practicing aerospace engineer focused on designing jet engines.

“Amy’s industry background and experience will be a tremendous asset to our medical device and health tech clients, and we look forward to her joining our world-class team of patent litigators,” said Sean Cunningham, global co-chair and US chair of DLA Piper’s IPT group. “With Amy coming to us from Medtronic and Jessica Hannah from Apple, we have further solidified our strong industry experience in both the medical device and high-tech industries. We are thrilled to welcome Amy to our team, which again demonstrates that DLA is a destination for top-notch patent litigation talent.”

“Boston is at the forefront of innovation and technology, and Amy will be a great resource to our clients as they navigate this changing landscape,” said Bryan Connolly, managing partner of the Boston office.
