DLA Piper advises Tarmac on its agreement with Forth Ports to create the UK's largest construction materials terminal at Tilbury2

DLA Piper has advised Tarmac in relation to its agreement with Forth Ports for the creation of the UK’s largest construction materials terminal at the new T2 facility at the Port of Tilbury in Essex, England.

The facility is a purpose-built aggregate processing and manufacturing facility, located to serve London and the South East with multimodal connectivity. The riverside location with dedicated rail connection will enable the delivery of construction materials in an efficient way which reduces road use by heavy vehicles.

The terminal required extensive adaptations to enable it to function as the state of the art facility required by Tarmac and follows a GBP250m investment by Forth Ports at Tilbury2, the UK’s newest port.

Mark Keeling, Real Estate Partner said “We are delighted to have worked with the team at Tarmac on the Forth Ports agreement. Major infrastructure and construction projects such as this, are at the heart of the UK’s economic recovery and long-term development. These industry leading facilities support the Building Back Agenda with a clear commitment to a more sustainable future”.

DLA Piper advised on the Real Estate, Construction and Planning aspects of the transaction with the team led by Real Estate Partner Mark Keeling, Construction Partner Ian Doig and Planning Partner Howard Bassford.
