Shiukay Hung joins DLA Piper's Finance practice in New York

DLA Piper announced today that Shiukay Hung has joined the firm as a partner in the Finance practice, based in New York.

Shiukay Hung advises on the US tax considerations of transactions related to real estate, REITs, M&A, private equity, corporate finance, capital markets and financial instruments. He joins from Tishman Speyer, a real estate owner, developer, operator and fund manager, where he served as a senior director advising the business and legal teams on tax considerations related to the acquisition, disposition and operation of real estate assets through fund and joint venture vehicles in the US and internationally.

“Shiukay brings 15 years of tax law experience and a deep understanding of the tax implications of complex transactions involving real estate assets,” said Jesse Criz, head of the firm’s Investment Management and Real Estate Capital Markets practice. “We are continuing to grow our REIT, tax and real estate capabilities, and Shiukay’s addition adds meaningful depth to our investment management practice and will be of significant benefit to existing and new clients alike.”

“As demand for practitioners who can provide sophisticated guidance on investment management and the real estate capital markets expands rapidly, we are thrilled to welcome Shiukay to the group. He brings a valuable perspective as a former in-house lawyer, as well as a breadth and depth of experience that will immediately add value,” said John Cusack, global co-chair of the firm’s Finance practice.

Shiukay Hung received his J.D. and B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia and his LL.M. from Harvard Law School.
