DLA Piper advises Geisel Privathotels on the sale of Hotel Königshof in Munich
DLA Piper has advised the Munich hotel group Geisel Privathotels on the sale of "Neubau Hotel Königshof" to the family-owned company Inka Karlsplatz GmbH & Co. KG (Inka Karlsplatz). As project developer, Geisel Privathotels will complete the new five-star hotel building in Munich's city centre at Karlsplatz (Stachus) by mid-2023.
Geisel Privathotels is a Munich hotel group founded in 1900 and owned by the Geisel family, now in its fourth generation. With the sale of the luxury hotel Königshof, the family company wants to focus on the further development of the existing businesses Stadtresidenz Beyond am Marienplatz, Hotel Excelsior, Schwabinger Wahrheit and Geisels Weingalerie.
The well-known Munich entrepreneur Hans Inselkammer, who owns shares in the Augustiner brewery and several properties in the city centre, owns the real estate portfolio management company Inka Karlsplatz. The future hotel operator and the concept of the Hotel Königshof have not yet been determined.
The DLA Piper team was led by Frankfurt-based partner Christian Lonquich (Real Estate), Mike Danielewsky and counsel Florian Bruder (both Finance, Projects & Restructuring). In addition, partners Dr Cornelius Frie (Corporate/M&A, Cologne), Dr Marie-Theres Rämer (Tax, Frankfurt), Guido Kleve (Lit&Reg, Cologne), counsel Robert Hofbauer (Finance, Projects & Restructuring), Dr Raimund Behnes (Tax, both Frankfurt), Timo Betjemann (Corporate, Cologne), senior associate Philipp Lorberg (Tax), associates Julian Jung, Tobias Bergner (both Real Estate, all Frankfurt), Philip Weyand (Lit&Reg, Cologne) and senior transaction specialist Daniel Odenthal (Finance, Projects & Restructuring, Frankfurt) were also involved.
