About

Jeff Castellano has litigated patent cases as lead counsel in courts and agencies across the country for more than 15 years. Although most of his career has been spent in the Delaware courts, he has handled patent and other technology disputes in other U.S. District Courts (including N.D. Cal. and E.D. Tex.) and Courts of Appeal (including the Federal Circuit), federal administrative agencies (including the ITC and USPTO), and state courts.

His cases have spanned dozens of areas of technology, including pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, chemicals, medical devices, telecommunications, software, and Internet technologies, among others.

While Jeff's principal focus has always been patent litigation, he has also handled other high-tech complex cases in federal and state court, including trade secret and patent licensing disputes, among others.

Jeff's practice covers every aspect of litigation, from pre-suit investigation and evaluation through trial and appeals. In his roles as lead and Delaware counsel, he has overseen dozens of cases at a time, creating and managing budgets, working closely with internal and external legal teams to ensure goals and deadlines are met on time and on budget.

Jeff currently serves as President of the Delaware Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and has served on the executive committee for more than ten years. In his pro bono practice, Jeff has represented underserved women and children in Delaware Family Court and U.S. veterans in appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Jeff has published academic papers and articles in bar journals, Law360, Landslide, and was a regular contributor to a popular Delaware patent-law blog.

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Jeff worked with a nationally recognized boutique litigation firm in Delaware.
