Marc Philibert has deep experience in global M&A, private equity transactions, and debt financing, with a particular emphasis on complex cross-border matters.

He is recognized for his track record in successfully closing transactions and for providing pragmatic, solution-driven advice that aligns with his clients' commercial goals. Marc's practice is built on fostering long-term client relationships and guiding clients through sophisticated transactions with efficiency and certainty.

Leveraging the firm's global platform of more than 90 offices in over 40 countries, Marc is exceptionally well positioned to support companies pursuing international growth and liquidity events. He regularly advises Canadian and international clients, including private equity funds, institutional lenders, and multinational corporations, on strategic transactions across North America and Europe.

Marc currently serves on DLA Piper's Global Executive Committee. He previously served as Managing Partner of the Montréal office from 2010 to 2026 and as Chair of Canada Financial Services.

  • Advised Andera Partners, a leading European private equity firm, on the signing of a transformative transaction enabling the combination of Spherea (Toulouse, France), a cornerstone engineering company providing mission-critical test systems for the Aerospace & Defense industries, with Averna (Montreal, Canada), a worldwide provider of test and quality solutions for medical devices, smart devices, data centers and autonomous vehicles
  • Advised Bridgepoint Development Capital and Equativ, the leading independent ad platform of which Bridgepoint Development Capital is the majority shareholder, on its merger with Sharethrough, a major independent adtech platform
  • Acted for Groupe Deschênes in its acquisition of Pinacle Stainless Steel, premier Canadian distributor of quality stainless steel pipes and fittings serving Industrial and General Contractors, Pulp and Paper, Mining, Shipbuilding, Chemicals and Automotive industries
  • Acted for Groupe Deschênes in its acquisition of Crane Supply
  • Acted for Groupe Deschênes in connection with the Competition Act approval and the Canada-US financing of its Corix Water Products acquisition
  • Acted for Physiotherapie Universelle in connection with its acquisition by Lifemark
  • Representation of Groupe Signature on the Saint Lawrence with respect to the financing of the New Champlain Bridge, Montreal, Québec
  • Acted for American Railway Supply in its acquisition of a Moncton railcar manufacturing facility and the establishment of a joint venture with CRRC
  • Canadian counsel to several lenders in cross border financings
  • Acted for Allied Group of companies with respect to its acquisition of Ezeflow Inc., a manufacturer of welded pipe fittings with manufacturing facilities in Canada, United States and Scotland
  • Acted for Asmodee Group with respect to its acquisition of F2Z Entertainment Inc., the Canadian publisher/distributor that owns the Z-Man Games, Filosofia Éditions, Pretzel Games, and Plaid Hat Games studios
  • Acted for Groupe Deschênes Inc. with respect to its acquisition and financing thereof of Ontario based Ideal Supply Company Limited and its 34 retail locations
