DLA Piper Canada advised both Brightworks and Zync in the launch of Believeco:Partners

On November 3, 2022, six leading Canadian independent marketing agencies joined to launch Believeco:Partners - owner, operator and builder of the foremost marketing, communications and engagement agencies in North America, backed by the Canadian Business Growth Fund. DLA Piper Canada played a significant role in this transaction by acting for both Brightworks Interactive Marketing Inc. as well as Zync Communications.

The new company will have nearly 300 employees in seven offices across North America, serving clients in a variety of sectors including technology, food, health, agriculture, government and financial services. It will combine Dragon’s Den star, Arlene Dickerson’s agency Venture Play with leading Canadian marketing firms Argyle, Brightworks, Zync, Revolve and Castlemain. Three brands will emerge out of the arrangement, which is designed to preserve the independence of the six firms while scaling up their business under the same banner.

Ted Maduri, the DLA Piper Canada lead Partner on the deal said, “I was honoured to be able to act for long-time client and friend, Neil Follett on the Brightworks side of things, as well as to make new connections with Marko Zonta and Brad Breininger from Zync. Given the complexity and the multitude of moving parts, I feel a deep satisfaction at its successful conclusion. I wish the Believeco team all the best and thank my DLA team for their sublime assistance.”

“We truly could not have done this without the talented and dedicated DLA Piper team. They helped us through the complexities, stress and nuances of this deal and provided the guidance and counsel that was critical to making informed decisions and driving us towards a positive outcome,” Neil Follett, CEO Believeco said. Brad Breininger, Co-Founder, Zync Comunications added, "Ted and the DLA Piper team were key in helping this very complex deal be successful for Zync — their expertise, counsel and attention to detail were unmatched, highly valued and very appreciated."
