DLA Piper deepens its West Coast Securities Litigation practice with the addition of Richard Zelichov

DLA Piper is pleased to announce the arrival of partner Richard Zelichov in Los Angeles, the latest in a series of additions to the firm’s burgeoning West Coast corporate and securities litigation practice.

Zelichov advises clients on a wide range of commercial litigation matters, with a strong focus on the technology and life sciences industries. He has extensive experience representing public companies and their directors and officers in securities class-action and derivative litigation in both federal and state courts throughout the US. He also advises on matters before the SEC and with internal investigations.

His notable experience includes defending a logistics company and its officers and directors in a securities class action and stockholder derivative cases arising out of allegations that it misstated the strength of its relationship with its most significant supplier and customer; defending a global medical supply company and its officers and directors in securities class action arising from a product recall; and defending a developer of cardiac health equipment and supplies and its officers and directors in securities class action, derivative litigation and SEC investigation arising out of allegations that company promoted its products for "off-label" use.

“Few lawyers have Richard’s level of experience and technical ability in the areas of life sciences and technology, which complements our work with clients in the rapidly evolving AI, fintech, regtech, and big data markets, as well as the heavily regulated cell therapy, pharmaceuticals and biologics verticals,” said Ilana Eisenstein, chair of the US Litigation group.

“Richard’s arrival comes at a time when the SEC is ramping up its enforcement efforts, leading to opportunistic stockholder class actions and derivative suits,” said Melanie Walker, co-chair of the firm’s Corporate and Securities Litigation practice. “He will no doubt be a strong resource to clients facing securities actions and regulatory scrutiny.”

“Richard further expands our corporate and securities litigation strength in California,” said Angela Agrusa, managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles offices. “His extensive experience defending corporations and individuals in high-stakes shareholder litigation will enhance our capabilities in California, which is home to some of the busiest jurisdictions in the U.S. for securities litigation filings.”

Zelichov joins a strong team of corporate and securities litigation attorneys. Late last year, partners John “Jake” Loftus and Christine Ellice joined the firm in Los Angeles, bringing extensive experience in financial services litigation matters involving equities, bonds, mutual funds and countless other investment products, as well as representing underwriters in securities class actions.
