DLA Piper advises George Kurtz in purchase of minority interest in ownership entity controlled by Toto Wolff
A transatlantic DLA Piper team advised George Kurtz - entrepreneur, technologist, and S&P 500 CEO - on his personal acquisition of a minority interest in the ownership entity controlled by Toto Wolff, team principal of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team.
Kurtz joins Mercedes-Benz, INEOS, and Toto Wolff in the team’s long-term ownership group. Kurtz will also join the team’s strategic steering committee and will support the team’s innovation and technology strategy, with a focus on the intersection of competitive motorsport, data analytics, and performance.
"It was a privilege to work with George and his team on this exciting transaction, which not only demonstrates the continued interest in global sports assets, but a broader trend of the sports continued integration with entrepreneurs from other sectors, " said DLA Piper Partner Alex Steinberg.
The cross-practice DLA Piper team was led by Steinberg (New York) in the US and Danny Westmoreland (London) in the UK, and included Partners Jon Kenworthy (London), Kurtis Weaver (Boston), Nick Fitzpatrick (London), Legal Director Sam Churney (London), Senior Associate Alex Lowe (London), and Associates Tristan Meagher (Baltimore), Marielle Woroboff (New York), Matthew Rose, and Dana Drozina (both London).
