DLA Piper advises NORD/LB and NIB on co-financing solar and battery storage systems projects in Lithuania

DLA Piper has advised Norddeutsche Landesbank (NORD/LB) and the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) as Arrangers and Lenders in respect of the c. EUR64 million financing for two new solar farms in Lithuania operated by renewable energy business Green Genius.

The projects are the 91 MWp solar parks in Lithuania’s Izabelinė (Ignalina municipality) and Lieponys (Trakai district) and an 18 MW BESS at the Izabelinė site.

A cross-border team from DLA Piper’s UK and Germany offices worked on the transaction led by Finance partners Natasha Luther-Jones, Global Co-Chair, Energy and Natural Resources Sector, and Rubayet Choudhury. They were supported by senior associates Charlotte Eliades, Patrick Lightbown, Lisa Huynh, and Emel Toluay-Ayhan, and associate Salesh Premjith.

Natasha Luther-Jones, partner, commented: “We are proud to have worked again with our long-standing clients Nord/LB and NIB, and to further support Green Genius’ ambitious plans in the Baltic region following our lead counsel role on Nord/LB’s financing of Green Genius’ Kukas solar PV project in Latvia last year”.
