Roundtable Discussion on Israel, “In support of our people”
On November 9, Jeremy Lustman shared his personal story of living in Israel during the current war and his perspectives on the rise of virulent and violent antisemitism across the world during an internal DLA Piper roundtable discussion webinar attended by nearly 800 colleagues. While acknowledging that this is a grim time in Israel and for global Jewry – feeling like a cross between the Yom Kippur War, 9/11 in the US, and the Holocaust – Jeremy shared hope for a future broader Middle East peace and his confidence in the return to business and economic partnership across the region soon.
Other speakers were Litigation Practice Group Leader Ilana Eisenstein (Philadelphia), US Healthcare Sector Chair Josh Kaye (Miami), and Labor and Employment Partner Evan Parness (New York), who shared their own stories – both painful and uplifting – and perspectives on living through these challenging times for Jews in the US. The webinar was thoughtfully and sensitively moderated by Managing Partner of the Americas and Co-US Managing Partner Richard Chesley.
We thank DLA Piper leadership for their unwavering support and for sending the clear message: “We stand with our Jewish colleagues, family, friends, and clients and do not tolerate discrimination of any type – regardless of religion or national origin.”
We hope and pray for better times ahead.
